Swimsuit season is upon us and most people are scouring the racks of chain stores or swiping their credit cards at pricey department stores. But, now you can change the game and grab the hottest trends from one brand: Odina Surf. Eco-friendly, sexy and exercise friendly, Odina is perfect for the beach bum that likes looking good in a bikini while soaking up the sun, challenging friends to a beach volleyball match, and being kind Mother Nature.

Odina Surf hails from Redondo Beach, California where they drew their inspiration from the largest swimsuit wearing community: surfers. Committed to providing a suit that was not only fashionable and sustainable, Odina sought to create a suit that was also practical. But, who exactly is the Odina girl?

“She’s a Cameron Diaz or Bella Throne. She not only cares about the Earth, but cares about how she looks,” says Aaron Taylor, Odina Surf’s marketing director. “She likes to play around and be active. She wants to have a bikini to wear and look good doing it.”

Through their sustainable business practices, Odina has achieved, fashion, function and eco-friendly down to the stitch. When a customer buys an Odina bikini, they are getting a product that is all recycled and reclaimed fabric, now including a lining that is 100% recycled.

When you’re looking for this summer’s swimsuit, the trends lay at two different ends of the spectrum. Taylor says less fabric equals more fashion, “I think a lot of swim is moving to revealing cuts and slimming cuts. A little bit less coverage. It started in Hawaii, then Brazil.”

For the girls who like more coverage, but still want the sexiness, retro is what you should be looking for. Taylor says that swimwear has been seeing 80s trends come back into play, “A good flash of retro, more coverage and high waisted.”

Odina Surf is definitely a brand that is making its mark in the swimwear world.  Offering stylish bikinis that reduce humans’ environmental impact has caught the eye of Urban Outfitters and wanderlust Alison Teale.

Urban Outfitters’ new active shop, Without Walls, which can be likened to brands like Roxy or Lululemon with UO’s classic hippie-relaxed twist. Urban Outfitters customers can purchase Odina’s bikinis, as well as a one-piece suit, online along with many other pieces to accompany their active lifestyles.

An upcoming project Odina is working on is a collaboration with with outdoors-loving and eco-friendly pal, Alison Teal, who has been seen on the Discovery Channel, as well as in a variety of films that raise environmental awareness. Together, Odina and Teal are going to premiere a hot pink bikini in Summer 2015 that is equip with all the function, style and sustainability Odina’s suits come with.
